Where to Eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in New West’s River Market - West Coast Food

By Avneet Takhar

Renamed in 2008 in homage to the Fraser River, the River Market has been a popular spot for foodies since 1986. With community and sustainability (not to mention stunning views!) at the centre of its Food 360 Vision, the market remains one of the best spots to enjoy a meal in New West. Located just one block away from New Westminster Skytrain station, it’s highly accessible for anyone who needs to satisfy their cravings ASAP.

So with no further ado, these are our top 3 market locales for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast: Angelina’s Dutch Corner

Made with fresh ingredients from the market, their signature waffles here are a must. We will always stand by the topping any meal with mixed berries, whipped cream and compote sauce. Add a fresh OJ to complete the morning glory!

Lunch: Pamola Bakery

The name Pamola comes from a small town in Mexico that the bakery owners hold fond memories of. With those nostalgic origins, the food is a reflection of their love for the area! The chorizo quesadillas with guac and sour cream are as authentic as it gets. Add a can of Jumex (Mexican juice drink, available in mango and pineapple) for a boost of sweet Latin flavour.

Dinner: Butcher’s Table

Contrary to the name, Butcher’s Table offers both meat and veggie options! We recommend the decadent steak frites- a ribeye steak complete with fries and a generous pad of orange herb compound butter. Adding a side of their delectable mac and cheese is also highly encouraged!

How to get to River Market:

River Market is one block south of New Westminster Skytrain station.

Accessible paths are west through the Skytrain station. Turn south on McInnes Overpass, then use the elevator, down to the RiverSky/Inn at the Quay level. Walk down the accessible ramp and head east to the market.
Or, take the elevator to ground level from the Skytrain platform and head south to Columbia Street. Head east on Columbia to Begbie Street, turning south on Begbie Street and cross the train tracks. River Market will be one block west after you cross the tracks.
