Give Thanks for Not Cooking: 10 Spots For Thanksgiving Takeout - West Coast Food

We’re into the swing of autumn now, and that means one thing. You have at least six months before you have to hear anyone talk about their “summer bod” again. So with that in mind, it’s time to feast.

It’s pure foodie serendipity that this yearly milestone should occur just on the cusp of Thanksgiving arriving. So let’s get to it, here are our picks for fantastic places to book your turkey, pie, stuffing etc.

Now let’s celebrate the autumn bod!

Dinner Packages

White Rock

The Boathouse

One of the longest-running restaurants on the White Rock strip, The Boathouse has been a part of the foodie landscape for decades. It only fits then that they should be serving up one of the biggest feasts of the year as well. Their to-go packages come with sliced turkey, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, cranberry sage stuffing, roasted autumn vegetables, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie.
It serves six comfortably, but this could likely be perfect for four in case anyone wants seconds (we do).

Vancouver

Provence Marinaside

A French favourite along the north side of False Creek, Provence is serving up delectable take-out family dinners this year. The chefs JF and Sheldon will be putting together individual dinners, so you can just order as many as you need! Complete with carved turkey, roasted vegetables, dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, baguette, and pumpkin pie, this is sure to please even the hardest headed of inlaws.

The North Shore

The Lobby Restaurant & Lounge

Just outside the Lonsdale Quay, in the Pinnacle Hotel, this is one of our fave spots on the North Shore to enjoy a staycation cocktail. So while they are offering take-out Thanksgiving packages, you could also sit-in with your family and not even have to worry about the dishes. You’re in for three courses with your choice of either Fraser Valley turkey or grilled Steelhead salmon for entrees. Either way, you can’t go wrong. If you do dine in however, be sure to start with something from their solid cocktail list.

Richmond

Fairmont Vancouver Airport + Globe @ YVR

If you’ve never dined at the restaurant that has greeted countless travellers upon arrival in YVR, then you owe it to yourself to visit Globe. A dine-in or takeout turkey fest is a fantastic way to kick off your relationship with one of the area’s most underrated eateries. If you’re picking up, can enjoy a feast for 8-10 or order an intimate dinner for two (of course, you can always double up on these for smaller groups). A preview of the menu: cauliflower Veloute with smoked ham, shaved Burgundy truffle, gorgonzola and pomegranate reduction, and cider-brined turkey breast with a turkey thigh ballotine. Not sure what some of those things mean, but we’re here for it.

Surrey

Tap RestaurantNo this is not a picture of a turkey dinner. But seeing as their site doesn’t have photos of it just yet, we figured we’d just show off their impressive pedigree of working with poultry. Just to convince you even further though, have a look at this menu: spice-brined turkey, glazed smoked ham, honey and cider roasted vegetables, apple strudel. That’s not even all of it! Visit their site to see the rest of the fixings.

New Westminster

El Santo

Mexican food= delicious. Thanksgiving= delicious. Therefore, Mexican Thanksgiving= delicious².

Consisting of turkey galantine stuffed with sofrito, cornbread and chorizo stuffing, whipped potatoes and churros for dessert, you may never return to your old turkey traditions. When you add a little kick of spice, life just feels fuller… and so will you, most likely.

All Things Pie

Coquitlam

Coffee + Vanilla

Just look at that crust game! Again, there’s something so satisfying about homemade pie, that you just can’t get from store-bought. Sink your teeth into any of the treats from this bakery/cafe, and you’ll know what we’re talking about. Order soon, though because their stock is sure to dwindle as the big day approaches!

Sweet and Savoury

There’s such a homey feeling of ordering baked goods from a commissary kitchen. Straight from the baker’s hands, to you, it just feels like an added personal touch. Baker Nav Sidhu runs this pastry company out of her kitchen, and the dedication of her Red Seal training is reflected in every piece of gloriously flaky crust.

Burnaby + White Rock

Chez Cristoph

Yes, pumpkin pies are an institution and can never be touched in the Thanksgiving hall of fame. However: Pumpkin Tart. While there may be outrage complete with hums and has upon your arrival with it, once they dig in, all doubts will be smashed like.. pumpkins.
Roasted pumpkin mousse, 35% caramelized white chocolate cinnamon ganache, madeleine sponge cake and pumpkin seed crumble. It’s enough to get you down on your knees, and thank god that you were born with tastebuds.

Langley

Sweet Thea Bakery
One of Langley’s best bakeries, Sweet Thea has made a name for itself with its scrumptious wares. While of course they have pumpkin pie, their apple is a serious contender for Thanksgiving greatness. But of course, our hearts will always belong to strawberry rhubarb.
