Happy Bellies: Must Try Fall Comfort Foods in Metro Vancouver - West Coast Food

October is right around the corner, bringing with it the season of comfort food. As the clouds roll in and the temperatures call for our cozier sweaters, restaurants around Metro Vancouver are serving up the warm-n-fuzzy-feeling dishes to match. Here’s a guide to feeling good this fall.

Pho Goodness | Vancouver

Bringing home-style Vietnamese cooking to the hearts of both Davie Street and Mount Pleasant, Pho Goodness has been serving up hot steaming bowls of comfort since 2011, making many citywide best-of lists along the way. Their signature pho features tastebud-tintallating twists including a Peanut Sate version that adds a rich, creamy, spicy profile…prime cold-weather comfort.

The Soup Meister’s Nephew | Vancouver’s North Shore

Comfort food with a heartwarming story. Back in 2020, Ralf Dauns, also known as The Soup Meister, was heralded as making some of the best soup in Vancouver, among other accolades over his 27 years in business. Today, his proud nephew, Evan Paul carries on the legacy of his uncle at the very same location in the Lonsdale Quay Market. Every one of the 3-6 hot, fresh soups available daily are made from scratch with hand-chopped vegetables, just the way Uncle Ralf did it!

The Story Cafe | Richmond

It’s not just food that comforts us. There’s something warming about the memories brought back by old movies, antiques and music we used to listen to. That’s the idea behind The Story Cafe, where a 30-year old warehouse has been transformed into a vintage music and movie themed restaurant. Their casual fine dining includes nostalgic favourites such as fried chicken and waffles by day and housemade lasagna by night.
