Events for Foodies in September - West Coast Food

As we slip into slightly shorter days, the West Coast is long on events and festivals for foodies to celebrate outside while we still can. Here is just a sampler of some of the tastes on offer.

September 3: Sip Shop Snack

Richmond’s Lulu Island Winery opens up its 15-acre property to local businesses and artisan vendors and invites the public to come and enjoy a glass of wine from the pop-up bar just steps from the outdoor market. Then you can grab lunch from Kyu Grill, an award-winning Japanese Hawaiian-style food truck, and picnic underneath the beautiful Grapevine Tunnel.

September 4: Italian Summer Festival & Mercato

Vancouver’s Italian Cultural Centre presents an open-air food festival in their parking lot off Slocan Street featuring plenty of food from around Italy, a market of local vendors and their specialty goods, food, drinks and treasures. There’s also a chance to show off your pimped-out Fiat at Johnny’s Car Show which will also be on site.

September 10 & 11: Coquitlam Block Party 2.0

The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival lands at Town Centre Park for a second time this summer with over 20 trucks featuring cuisines from all over the world, served up with local flair. You can also expect local market vendors, a beer garden, live music and entertainment, and tons of fun for the whole family.

September 10 & 24: The Langley Loop Craft Beer Tour

The last two dates of this popular summer-long tour come this month presented by The Clayton Public House. Book your group of 6 for a chauffeured and guided tour of four of Langley and Langley City’s best craft breweries. Your ticket gets you an appetizer at the Clayton before you set out for a flight of beer each at CAMP, Trading Post, Five Roads and Farm Country.

September 11: Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields

Canada’s largest and longest running local food and beverage festival returns for its 27th incarnation. Sustainable food collective FarmFolk CityFolk presents a four-hour “wandering gourmet harvest festival” that features bites from some of the Lower Mainland’s top chefs, bakers, and food artisans, plus refreshers from vintners, brewers and distillers. All while you traipse through a field at the beautiful UBC Farm.

September 24: The White Rock Craft Beer Festival

Maybe White Rock’s most hotly anticipated event finally returns three long years after making its first sudsy splash. Memorial Park turns into the West Coast’s prettiest beer garden featuring fourteen local breweries including White Rock’s own 3 Dogs, Galaxie and White Rock Beach Beer Company.
