A family event for all ages, UBC Apple Festival celebrates one of BC’s favourite fruits. From learning about the diversity of apples to tasting rare and unusual varieties, Apple Festival is a great opportunity to discover more about this delicious fruit.

At this year’s Festival, more than 32,000 lbs (14,515 kg) of organic and conventionally grown BC apples will be available for sale to thousands of apple enthusiasts. Over 50 heritage, new and traditional apple varieties are expected to be available for sale, as well as a huge selection of apples trees grafted onto dwarfing rootstock. Pears and Quince will also be available for purchase.

Connoisseurs can sample more than 40 varieties of apples at the FOG’s Apple Tasting Tent for an additional $5. For visitors who want to enrich their knowledge of local apples, The Apples of the Apple Festival booklet will be available for sale.

In the Children’s Area, find storytelling, crafts, games and the ever-popular giant leaf pile! A wide array of talented dancers, singers and musicians will keep the crowds entertained throughout the event. Displays of sustainability, pollination, cider press demonstrations and a Stump the Apple Expert ID challenge at the Best Apple Display in Canada can be found at the Garden’s Reception Centre.

Visitors can enjoy delectable edibles including apple pie, hot apple cider, apple juice, pizza and chocolate treats, available at the Food Fair. They can wander the trails and find fall foliage throughout UBC Botanical Garden, then brave the Greenheart TreeWalk, a canopy walkway suspended 20 metres above the forest floor (special event pricing in effect).
