Taste Sound: An Immersive Dining Experience at Burdock & Co

Our team is so excited for Tarun Nayar’s return on May 22nd for the second of four special events here at Burdock & Co in 2025 – this time, with locally sourced resins & foraged forest ingredients!

What happens if you ‘listen’ to your food while you eat it?

‘Taste Sound’ is a fun and thought provoking fine dining experience that explores the well documented interplay of the senses of taste and sound. Science has discovered that, for example, high frequencies bring out sweetness and low frequencies bring out bitterness in food. However musician and biologist Tarun Nayar (aka Modern Biology) takes this to the next level by using custom equipment to transform the bioelectric activity of plants and mushrooms into sound – thereby allowing participants to actually ‘listen’ to their meals while eating. This simple exercise can be surprisingly profound, catalyzing a deep connection with our food and the natural world.

Tickets include a four-course meal, before taxes and gratuity, as well as headphones for our guided experiments and soundscapes. Beverages are available in addition, the evening of the event.
