The holidays are just around the corner, and if the wait is just too unbearable for you, Metro Vancouver has more than a few options for wassailing away the days until the 25th. So bundle up, and let’s take a tour of our favourite community Christmas markets!
Burnaby
Heritage Christmas
Take a step into Christmases gone by with a visit to Burnaby Village’s annual glow-up event. With bright family photo opportunities around every lamppost, a wander through the village is sure to get every member of your crew feeling festive. If you’re still met with Grinch-like glares, a ride on the restored 1912 Carousel will do the trick. For extreme cases, consult the scoop artists at the old-fashioned ice cream parlour.

Surrey
Surrey Holiday Lights
While this family festival may be lights-focused, there is food listed on-site, so it still counts for this list! A fantastic outing for big and little kids, Surrey Holiday Lights is certain to be a bright spot in your holiday calendar. Check out the gingerbread village, listen to live music, and stop by the HOT CHOCOLATE BAR!

Vancouver
The Vancouver Christmas Market
You likely already knew about this one. YVR’s biggest Christmas-themed (and German-inspired) bruhaha, this event has been a Lower Mainland mainstay for years. Grab a ticket and keep up the tradition of perusing artisanal gifts, riding the carousel and, of course, noshing the day away. Insider tip: the chimney cakes are worth the line.

Vancouver’s North Shore
The Ambleside Holiday Market
A holiday market with a view of the ocean, this West Vancouver event hosts over 40 local vendors, live music and delectable snacks. Grab a freshly made bubble waffle or enjoy a bag of smores-flavoured toffee from Two Brothers Toffee, and it was already worth the visit.
