By Catherine Dunwoody Smitty’s Oyster House on Main Street is adding a series of ‘Go Shuck Yourself!’ oyster shucking classes in December, with plans to continue in January 2024. Think of this as signing up for ‘Oysters 101’, meaning you’ll learn from the Smitty’s pros all there is to know about cracking (and enjoying) those delicious pearl-makers of the sea. Two classes remain in December, the 21st and 28th at 6:30 p.m. The event sizes are small and intimate, with just 10 guests sipping on complimentary wine and tapas while they learn all about the varieties of East and West Coast oysters, and the secret tips on shucking their own. Tickets to each event are $100 per person plus tax and gratuity and include a $25 gift card that can be redeemed on future visits to Smitty’s Oyster House on Main Street.
