Are you ready for Western Canada’s Largest Halal Food Festival? If you’ve been feeling like your palate has been stuck in neutral the past few meals, then there’s no better way to kickstart your taste buds than with three straight days of the best Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine in the Lower Mainland. Happening from June 20 – 22 at Surrey’s Holland Park, BC Halal Food Fest is one of our biggest culinary highlights of the year!
Whether you’re after savoury: kebabs, shwarma, falafel, or sweet: bakhlava, kunafa, warbat, you’ll find all kinds of possibilities that are delicious as they are diverse. Featuring an unparalleled roster of international cuisines, you can expect friendly food vendors serving everything from Palestinian to Jordanian, Lebanese to Afghan. Just remember to arrive on an empty stomach!
With over 100k attendees expected over the three days, and 45 food stalls tempting passersby with their wafting aromas, it might be a bit overwhelming knowing where to start. Which is why we suggest grabbing an Arabic coffee or a perfectly sweetened chai and methodically working your way through the aisles before making any decisions. You can’t eat everything after all…(*please do not try to eat everything).
And if you are starting to feel a bit full, there are plenty of ways to pass the time before you get hungry again! Carnival rides, midway games, live music and performances from top names in Middle Eastern Talent…before you know it, you might be ready for another cheeky snack! There’s also another full vendor area showcasing textiles, handmade goods, and unique gift ideas. It’s the perfect place to find a memorable souvenir of the incredible multiple-course menu you assembled for yourself!
