Celebrating the brightest time of year in the Lower Mainland, the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is back! From March 27 to April 12, 2026, the annual community tradition continues with even more reasons to get out and explore the rich springtime colour palette.
Ringing in the new season, the festival not only has a dedicated map of the best places to see blossoms, but you’re also invited to all kinds of local gatherings for the occasion. Starting with the festival’s connection to our Japanese community, the pastel scenes created by our local blossoms often draw comparisons to the Sakura season in places like Kyoto and Tokyo. It’s a fitting time for the Sakura Days Japan Fair portion of the festival! Hosted at VanDusen Botanical Garden, it’s a wonderful chance to try the tasty cuisine of our Japanese food trucks, watch Taiko drum performances, and wander the paths of the renowned garden.
Keeping with the eastern influence, the fest also spotlights area poets with an annual haiku exhibition, because sometimes poetry is the only way to express your emotions for something as gorgeous as the tree-lined streets during this fleeting time of year. It’s a great way to see how people can be inspired by the same stunning beauty in different ways.
At The Big Picnic, you’re invited to join one of the centre pieces of the festival, David Lam Park in Yaletown, for an afternoon of music, snacking, and savouring the gorgeous waterfront views. Surrounded by blossoming trees, it’s an excellent opportunity for a picnic, whether you’re bringing take-out from your favourite local spot or ordering from the on-site food vendors.

Finally, of course, there is The Blossom Block Party, a one-day celebration in Downtown Vancouver that celebrates the season of vibrant hues, where attendees dress in their brightest ensembles. With a pop-up bar, even more food trucks, and a public disco, you can wrap up your weekend with a big burst of spring-inspired energy!

There’s more happening for the Cherry Blossom Festival (far too much to list it all here), so be sure to check out the official schedule of upcoming events, workshops, and community gatherings.
Have fun!
