7 Must-Try Treats at Japan Market’s Christmas Market - West Coast Food

Japan Market’s Christmas Market is at UBC Robson Square December 2- 3, 2023, so make your way downtown and  while browsing through beautiful ceramics, cute and enjoying cultural performances like the Kimono Show and the Okinawa Traditional Dance and Music Workshop, try all the yummy treats on offer from 20 vendors from across Metro Vancouver creating delicious local treats with global flair.

Patisserie La Porte de L’Espoire

“Shining a door to all your hopes,” La Porte de L’Espoire brings a taste of classic-style French pastry to the market. These delightful treats can usually only be found at Bean Around the World on 10th and Main Street, or ordered online. Here’s a rare chance to catch these beautiful baked creations in person.

SenchaMatcha

If green tea is your favourite flavour, you won’t want to miss SenchaMatcha,  purveyors of premium Uji Kyoto ceremonial Matcha and Houjicha powder that are delicious for drinking as well as perfect for making desserts and lattes. They also carry Japanese teas like sencha, genmaicha and houjicha. Select products are available at Origin Delight Cafe in Richmond and for purchase online.

Bear Plus Berry

Based out of Surrey, Bear Plus Berry is known for their beautiful custom-order cakes and adorned with whorls of icing, macarons and unique touches like butterflies.

My Love at First Bite

Have you ever seen a character so cute you could just eat it?  My Love at First Bite’s Chantel Tran Vo whips up macarons with Japanese-inspired designs from characters in Studio Ghibli movies, Sanrio, various anime and even shiba inu! 

Operating through an online order system, My Love at First Bite also makes cakes, cookies and more–you’ll just have to wait and see what creations make it to the market.

Vegan Pudding Co.

Based in Downtown Vancouver, Vegan Pudding Co.’s  founders Sora and Hiro have created a delicious plant-based dessert that can be enjoyed pre-made or in powder from at home in flavours like yuzu earl grey and matcha and vanilla.
