In our travels around Metro Vancouver, tasting, sampling, and just generally doing all manner of feasting, we’re always coming across new avenues of local flavour. While we usually cover the wealth of diverse dining options in the area, there are also plenty of ways to up your kitchen game and enrich your palate at home. Nowhere else is that truer than through the West Coast Farmer’s Market scene!
In fact, we discovered a fantastic market collective appropriately titled Artisan Farmers Markets. Organized by the non-profit Artisan Farmers Market Society, the three markets listed below aim to cultivate community relationships between the people who buy groceries and those who make/grow them. It’s all about getting to know where our food comes from, and, in their words, “to create a food secure community by improving access to local, healthy, affordable food to the community.” Local, sustainable, community-oriented, not a bad alternative to getting your groceries from a billion-dollar corporation!
Ambleside
A short stroll from Ambleside Park and the beach, a visit to the market is a fantastic addition to an afternoon in the fresh West Vancouver air! The friendly growers, bakers, and artisans onsite are ready to introduce you to the robust flavours of all their passionate efforts.
