Pho Den

We love ducking out of our workday for a great lunch deal anytime, and especially during Dine Out. Vietnamese restaurant Pho Den has 3-courses for $22 (dinner is $24) which cannot be beat. Start with crunchy, dippable spring rolls, then a steamy bowl of winter-comforting pho (beef, chicken or veg) and royal milk tea with topping for dessert.

Accepting reservations for lunch and dinner, $22 and $24 per person.

By transit: bus 191, or SkyTrain Millennium line or Expo line.

The Wild Fig Restaurant + Lounge

We like a hotel dining experience too, even if we’re just pretending to be out-of-towners for a little midwinter vacation-vibe. The Wild Fig Restaurant + Lounge is located in the Executive Plaza Hotel, and the 3-course dinner deal is hard to pass up at $45. Two choices of appetizers, and three choices for mains including chicken, tuna, or short ribs plus tempting dessert options too. Dinner and a show sound nice? Live entertainment happens on Saturdays and Sundays.

Accepting reservations for dinner, $35 per person.

By transit: Near the Lougheed Town Centre SkyTrain station.

Glass House Estate Winery

Why not dine in the vines? Glass House Estate Winery is a family-owned vineyard and boutique winery offering the same 3-course menu for both lunch and dinner. A great way to get to know their wines while you are enjoying a meal, be sure to pair a glass (for an additional cost, of course.)

Menu highlights include a starter of truffle cauliflower soup, a main of merlot braised beef popover with horseradish whipped potato and onion jam (a vegetarian option is available too) and milk chocolate fondue for dessert.

Accepting reservations for lunch and dinner, $55 per person.

El Santo

Visit El Santo for Chef Sam Fabbro’s menu of sustainable ingredients aimed at introducing us to modern Mexican cuisine. Three courses for $50 at dinner means a choice of starters including aguachile de camaron, mains of wagyu steak, chile relleno, or risotto with scallops, plus churros for dessert.

Accepting reservations for dinner, $50 per person.

Afghan Kitchen

Dine Out is a perfect time to try ethnic offerings you might not have tasted before, like at the Afghan Kitchen where a 3-course dinner is also available for take-out. $40 gets you loads of options, including vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, and we particularly like the chilled eggplant dip to start, the lamb shank for a main (but with five choices, we may have to visit more than once), and the baklava with rose mascarpone for dessert sounds lovely.

Accepting reservations for dinner, $40 per person.

By transit: bus 354.
