Festive Flavours at the Vancouver Christmas Market - West Coast Food

The holiday season has officially arrived with the start of the Vancouver Christmas Market, the traditional annual German market opening November 16th, 2023 and running until Christmas Eve.

Families can get into the holiday spirit by enjoying live holiday entertainment on the Flying Stage, encouraging kids to roam the market on a Scavenger Hunt or hop aboard the holiday carousel, in between browsing through over 90 artisan huts with unique handcrafted wares. But you haven’t experienced the true joy of the Christmas Market without trying all the delicious baking and comfort foods you’ll only find during the holiday season–it’s a must-visit for festive foodies!

Gourmetstrasse–Taste the Season

Drink

Glühwein at the Christmas Pyramid

An all-time favourite Vancouver Christmas Market tradition, sip on a traditional hot-spiced mulled wine at the one and only Christmas Pyramid.

Das Apfel Haus

Comforting, sweet and spiced, Das Apfel Haus serves traditional German apple drinks. To spice up your apple cider, order the Cider Squared–a cup of hot apple cider spiced with a shot of Berentzen Apfel Schnaps. Cheers!

Ho Ho Hot Chocolate

Stay warm as you wander around the market with a hot chocolate in hand (or if a coffee-based beverage is more your speed, they also offer drinks like cappuccinos, lattes and mochas.)

Das Strudel Haus

A sweet new addition to the market offering crisp Apple Strudel and Cherry Strudel with warm vanilla sauce and whipped cream. Yum!

Cheese Me Raclette

A popular favourite from past years, Cheese Me Raclette dishes up authentic Swiss raclette (warm, creamy melted cheese scraped from the wheel) accompanied with freshly made dishes. Cheese-lovers, get in line!

Transylvanian Chimney Cakes

A whimsical and festive treat that hails from Hungarian-speaking regions, kürtőskalács, or chimney cake, is a spiral of sweet, flaky dough coated with sugar while roasting on a spit. Need we say more?

Das Gulasch Haus

Raised in a small town in the Austrian province of Styria, the owner Thomas proudly offers market-goers a taste of home with his mother’s special gulasch recipe, served in a bread bowl. The ultimate Christmas market comfort food on a cold night.
