Must-Visit Wineries in Metro Vancouver - West Coast Food

Welcome to Metro Vancouver wine country! If you’re a wine lover, the Lower Mainland is full of places to please your palate. From family-owned vineyards to award-winning wineries, our local wine scene has plenty of ways to keep your glass full this summer. Whatever varietal you’re into right now, these are just a few delicious tasters of what you can expect when you start sampling the area’s grapes. Let’s start pouring!

Pacific Breeze Winery – New Westminster

One of our favourite spots to sip in New West, Pacific Breeze, holds the claim to fame of being the very first “Garagiste” (garage winery) in Canada. It’s a unique urban model that allows the family-owned business to hand-craft small lot wines without actually growing any grapes onsite. Since they began making their signature full-bodied reds and luscious white wines in 2007, they’ve won over 50 international wine awards, including  InterVin’s “Winery of the Year” in 2010.  Stop by their patio/ lounge soon for a flight, glass, bottle or even a wine SLUSHY!

# 6 – 320 Stewardson Way, New Westminster

Lulu Island Winery – Richmond

Known in the area for hosting beautiful events and private parties, Lulu Winery is ready to give an unforgettable experience no matter the occasion. Pop by for a tour of the lush 10-acre vineyard and see the meticulous work that goes into crafting their perfected wines. They even have a weekly happy hour on Fridays from 3 – 7 pm where guests can enjoy live music over mulled wine and cheese platters. A fantastic way to start any weekend!

Backyard Vineyards – Langley

Langley has become a bit of a hotspot for wine in the last decade, and Backyard Vineyards is just one of the reasons why! Since 2009, the award-winning winery has become well known for its wide variety of reds, whites, rosés and sparkling. You might need to take a few bottles home to get the full spectrum of how their homegrown grapes are complemented by fruit selected from the Fraser Valley and South Okanagan. Try for yourself in their cozy tasting room, or book a tour and learn about all the preparation and expertise that go into each bottle.

Vancouver Urban Winery – Vancouver

One of the great date spots in Vancouver, this beautiful winery has a warm ambience that pairs perfectly with good wine ( and thankfully, they’re always well stocked). Located in Railtown, VUW has been producing outstanding wine since 2011—over 40 vintages to date!

The winery restaurant, Belgard Kitchen, boasts  36 wines on tap for you to try, including a few notable favourites from outside the winery. Whether you’re looking for an event venue, a place to get brunch, or a reason to sample the best of BC wines, Vancouver Urban Winery is always a good place to start.

Country Vines Winery – Richmond

Mixing the best of Okanagan grapes with the meticulously grown grapes from their estate, this family-owned winery specializes in cool-season whites, with a focus on Pinot Gris, Schonburger, and Perle de Csaba. Their Richmond location has become a hotspot for wine enthusiasts, with plenty of opportunities to sip and mingle at various events. Whether it’s with live music performances or a yoga class in the shade of the lush grounds, Country Vines is sure to keep you coming back for a second glass.

Vinoscenti Vineyards – Surrey

Located along the winding banks of the Serpentine River, Vinoscenti Vineyards prides itself on being a winery focused on cultivating new wine knowledge. Ditching any pretentious stereotypes, the staff here is all about giving newcomers an inviting place to learn and sample great wine. They have a dedicated space for classes where visitors can build their palate and pinpoint the subtle nuances of their premium offerings. There’s a real sense of community building here where asking questions is always encouraged. Especially if your next question is, what are we trying next?
