It’s that time of the year, folks: Hygge! But instead of hibernating indoors (boring!), why not take it outside by a roaring heated winter patio in the company of friends and delicious eats?
Here are our top 5 cozy outdoor spots in Metro Vancouver.

Vancouver
Paratha 2 Pasta
The hottest new spot to drop in Vancouver, which opened at the end of 2023 after its success in Surrey, is a second location serving up parathas, a savoury Indian flatbread usually slathered with makhan (butter).
With a year-round front heated winter patio you can “people watch” Yaletown (all the more entertaining on a Friday night!), as you devour paranthas generously filled with classic stuffings. The MVPs are aloo (potato), gobi (cauliflower) or mooli (radish).
There’s also the chance to let loose with the adventurous fusions they feature, including the pastas and P2P favourite: Loaded Fries with butter chicken or shahi paneer. Bahuta saudi (pronounced bohat- swadiya)! Meaning: very delicious! Say that to your server to impress ‘em!
Ge there on transit: A 2-minute walk from Yaletown Station, Canada Line SkyTrain.
North Vancouver
Raglan’s Bistro
It may be chilly, but it sure doesn’t feel like it when you’re in the tropical bliss of Raglan’s Bistro on a welcoming heated patio. With burgers and burritos the size of your head, (that’s indeed what the menu says) and cocktails that make you feel like you’re on vacation, there are no winter blues here.
Get there on transit: Right on the Lonsdale strip, it’s just a 5-minute walk from the SeaBus Station.
Langley
Trading Post Brewing
If you’re looking for a daredevil meal, with seasonal brews right from the tap, look no further than this upscale brewery. From Bison Meatball Spaghetti to BBQ Ribs finished off with a housemade bourbon sauce, it doesn’t get meatier than this! Their outdoor patio is both heated and dog-friendly.
And don’t fret veggies and vegans – there’s also plant-based delights for you too.
Get there on transit: The 501 or 395 buses will take you by its doorstep.
Surrey
The Back Room
Despite its rather saucy name, The Back Room is an airy and inviting space with a heated patio that has a bunch of lovely potted plants dotting around, creating a calm oasis.
Taking Punjabi flavours and giving them a modern twist, like the Amritsar-inspired Fish Fingers and Chips, and Keema Kalegi Tawa (minced lamb and liver), this is a good one for the spice lovers and those with gentler palettes alike.
Get there on transit: Get the 321 or 345 buses from King George Station.
New Westminster
Hub Restaurant
Want panoramic views of the city and river on a picturesque patio? Hub is for you! Their simple motto: “Good Food. Good People. Good Times” is spot on. They even do Family Bundle meals, with brisket and pulled pork if you want to make it a table with all your favourite people!
Get there on transit: Located above New Westminster SkyTrain Station, Level 2.
