5 Unique Burgers to try in Metro Vancouver - West Coast Food

Burger-love. It’s a thing. We absolutely crave them, so when the mood hits, no other meal will do. Here’s 5 restaurants doing something special between two buns.

New Westminster

Burger Heaven has been dedicated to burgers since 1984 with a menu filled with both classic combos and unusual offerings. No matter what you choose, their potato wedges and salad are delicious sidekicks. Ernie’s Mile High is 8 patties thick and weighing in at 3 lbs of meat. Not for the faint of heart. Or try the Perogy Burger topped with our favourite Ukrainian doughy dumplings, sour cream, cheddar cheese and chives.

Langley

Built in 1946, Hilltop Diner is like something out of a time machine. Who doesn’t love the classic, diner-décor vibe while chowing down on a burger and shoestring fries? Check out the TV & Movies tab on their website, as many cool films have been shot here too. They make all kinds of burgers but Hilltop is one of the few places to offer a classic Patty Melt: beef patties sandwiched between melty cheese, fried onions and grilled Canadian rye bread instead of a bun. Yes please.

Surrey

Texx Big Burger has been serving hungry burger lovers since 2011 and sells their addictive fries by the pound. Their burgers are sloppy, messy, meaty, and cheesy with a big schwack of topping choices to customize yours just as you like it. Nothing fancy here, just good eatin’. And that is absolutely perfect when it comes to a classic burger.

Coquitlam

Gordon Ramsay Burger opened late in 2023 and has an impressive menu of the cranky-chef’s favourite burgers, but it’s the Truffle Burger that stopped us in our tracks. Imagine a beautiful burger topped with truffle goat cheese, bacon, frisée, pickled shallots, over-easy egg, and truffle aioli. Priciest burger on the menu, and well worth the upgrade.

Vancouver

Monzo Burger is inspired by 1980’s Milanese youth called the Paninari, a stylish Italian subculture, also burger obsessed. We like The Wrangler, a spicy take on the Bacon Double with aioli, charred onion, Swiss and spicy pickled jalapenos. Fries are gluten-free made in a dedicated fryer, sure to make any Celiac person happy. Monzo has their own Italian Pilsner made by Indigenous-owned Ravens Brewing too, plus Aperol granitas, and creamy shakes.
