You know the drill around here, Autumn in Vancouver (or anywhere really) means ditching your summer gear for all the cozy stuff: scarves, thick socks, peacoats, and delicious, rich beer. But because Vancouver is overflowing with beer and brewery options, we’ve rounded up a bevvy of seasonal suggestions whether it’s for your fridge, or your next brewery crawl.

Lost Souls Chocolate Pumpkin Porter
“All treat, no trick: this rich, robust chocolate pumpkin porter is so good, even the living dead will indulge.” We warned you: there’s not escaping pumpkin flavoured beer during the autumn season. But pumpkin and chocolate? That’s sure to please even the pumpkin skeptics. The base of the Lost Souls Chocolate Pumpkin Porter is a hearty porter, enhanced with a generous addition of chocolate malts.

Layer Up Winter Wheat Ale

Stanley Park Brewing (and their shiny new restaurant and brewpub!) are kicking off winter a little early, but no complaints here. Warm up with the Layer Up Winter Wheat Ale with “lush layers of berry and citrus flavours in an auburn coloured Wheat Ale.” Available until February 2020.

6.5%, 25 IBU
Soon to be back by popular demand! “A malty spiced ale brewed with pumpkin pie spices made with 100 lbs of local pumpkin mash.” This beer, available in bottes and on tap at the Brewpub, is easily Steamworks’ most popular seasonal ale.
20 East 4th Avenue
ÆNIMA Imperial Stout with Vanilla
Certainly not for the faint of heart, this stout comprised of coco, Madagascar vanilla, and coffee will certainly keep you warm and cozy. Try at Electric Bicycle’s fun, eclectic Mount Pleasant tasting room.

There’s a lot of fun stuff coming out of our favourite place to get strange this fall.
Mid-October you can find Super Strange and Super Obvious sold in cans. Super Obvious is a can-conditioned dry hopped Saison brewed in collaboration with Vancouver’s Superflux. Late October, guests can grab a bottle of the Boris Russian Imperial Stout, a strong Imperial Stout brewed with peat smoked barley and aged one year in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels. And that’s not all! Late November, crowd favourite, the Strange Fellows Nocturnum Dark IPA, will return in cans. Grab yours at the tasting room or at a liquor store.

Pixie Cut Pale Ale

For the more traditional beer drinker, enjoy this “timeliness English x West Coast hybrid” no matter your haircut. Bomber Brewing likes to think of this beer like a nineties style, but all grown up. Enjoy on tap or in cans.

Prost! This traditional Oktoberfest beer was brewed with exclusively Weyermann ® Specialty Malts imported from Germany, giving a “toasty dry finish with high drinkability.” Celebrate Oktoberfest with a pint at Märzen R&B Brewing in Mount Pleasant.
15 West 8th Avenue
The 33 Acres Brewing sister spot brews exclusively seasonal and rotating taps. Some beers on the current list that might quench your fall thirst, is the Orange Oat Pale Ale (5.8%) with notes of smooth berry and citrus, and the Smoked Session Lager (4.0%) with smokey, cookie flavours.
